One of the earliest photos we have from the community’s archives is of a prayer gathering in Camparmò. This was before we had any buildings to host it, and Fr Ricardo is leading them in prayer in the open air.
The Prophecy of Camparmò speaks of a community where “my virgins will live with my poor”. Since our foundation in 1979, people have come to our Oases in need of prayer and emotional support.
Pope Francis, Angelus
Jesus Heals gatherings have always been an important element of our community rhythm, and allows for a personal connection between those in need and those who can support with testimony and prayer. As with the early Church, the invitation to bring our sick before Jesus is an important one. Saint Thomas Aquinas describes the power of the Cross as “medicinal”… Jesus Heals gatherings are inspired by that beautiful truth that salvation (salus in Latin) isn’t some abstract theology of a future paradise, but a truth that Jesus wants us to experience here and now.
There is nothing ‘magic’ about our Jesus Heals gatherings. We simply gather with the belief that God’s promises are true. Among these is the great promise of the Cross: “by His wounds we are healed”.
Our Jesus Heals gatherings are held monthly at our Oasis in the Braid, and are open to absolutely anyone. We are also sometimes invited to lead Jesus Heals gatherings in parishes too. These moments of prayer is a chance to draw close to Jesus the healer, and to be encouraged and receive prayer from others with the the hope of the Cross - that there death is defeated and that Christ is risen that we might have life and life to the full.
Please accept this as your invitation. If you want to chat more, or if you have a prayer request that you would like our community to pray for before you’re able to come to Jesus Heals please get in touch. Our consecrated community and intercession team pray every day for the prayer intentions that we receive. And we look forward to welcoming you in person as we gather together in the presence of Jesus who heals and saves.
