Forming Evangelisers

Our Kerygmatic School of Evangelisation

Every community in the Church is given a specific call. Evangelisation and mission is the call that the Lord has given us as a community.

When he proclaimed the season of “new evangelisation” in 1983, Pope John Paul II spoke of its three qualities: new in its methods, new in its expression, and new in its ardour.

Since then, Koinonia John the Baptist has been forming and supporting its members - lay and consecrated - through a programme of formation that empowers the individual to bear witness to the Good News in their life and their circumstances.

All members of Koinonia make a covenant promise to evangelise. For some this will be through teaching and preaching, for others it will be through service and ministries: for all of us we’re called to share with others what we have received in Jesus. Hi

Over the past four decades, the community has developed short formation programmes which equip believers in sharing the Gospel in new, fresh and uncomplicated ways. These form the basis of the Kerygmatic School of Evangelisation which is contextualised by each Koinonia worldwide for the sharing of the Gospel in fresh and new ways in that context.

In Ireland, the School of Evangelisation was particularly crucial, creating the opportunity for an evangelisation prayer group in Down and Connor to meet and eventually become part of Koinonia in 2001. Since then, members of Koinonia in Ireland (lay and consecrated) have supported our brothers and sisters in other nations through mission trips and support.

The idea of evangelising may seem way out of your comfort zone. But by stripping it back to what it means - the Good News of Jesus - and by communicating simple and creative techniques to share that with others, our formation retreats and programmes empower and motivate!

If you are interested in participating in any of our formation weekends please get in touch with Esteban who leads our school here in Ireland.
