To all the brothers and sisters
of the Oases – Realities of
Koinonia John the Baptist
Christ is risen!
37 years have passed and we’re still here, together, to bear witness to the faithfulness of the Lord. On this journey others have joined us, while others have left us. However the journey hasn’t been interrupted.
Koinonia John the Baptist has been like a river flowing down a valley, which sees increase in its reach until it becomes a source of blessing for the plains. This is well expressed in the community’s crest. From the glorious cross of Jesus three undivided rivers spring out. The cross and golden rivers highlight our origin and our mission: we are born into new life through the encounter with Jesus, so that together we can bring the joy of the proclamation, the joy of service and the joy of friendship to our brothers and sisters.
After all these years, spiritually we set out again from where it all began: Camparmò, a simple house of prayer from which emerged all of this dynamism that has taken root in all continents, a flow that began in 1979.
For this reason we will gather together at the congress to cast our nets again at Jesus’ command. We will gather together as one in order to be fortified in our ‘being’ Koinonia, to be clad with a new missionary strength and be confirmed in the joy of being John the Baptist. We will spend time together, even if it is only a few days, so that when we leave, we are rejuvenated, full of hope and enthusiasm. We’ll intensely relive an overview of our history, and even though it may seem something of little significance, or that our time together is too brief, it will certainly be enough for us to see and give testimony that the Lord is faithful and that we haven’t placed our trust in Him in vain.
During the Congress we will also celebrate the 80th birthday of our founder, Fr. Ricardo Argañaraz. The presence of the entire community will be an occasion to express our gratitude for his courage to initiate a new experience of faith and for always being by our side as an inspiration. Upon his “yes” we have built what we now know as Koinonia John the Baptist.
So from 25th – 27th August 2016 let’s all head to Prague! And it will be a great feast: a feast of the Gospel, the joy of being Koinonia John the Baptist.
