"An amazing experience of God's love layered on us with each talk and dynamic - a fun filled time with our new friends in Downpatrick. My heartfelt thanks to the whole team for your 'yes'"
It was only fitting that we 'celebrate' our 15th year with a "Philip" weekend in Downpatrick on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th February. Fr. John Murray was monumental in bringing the Koinonia to Ireland, and it was great to collaborate with him and his parish, sharing the Gospel where Patrick first ministered when he arrived on these shores.
Thirty participants shared with the journey with us. This more than filled the lounge of the parish centre on Friday night, and created a joyful and intensely spiritual experience on Saturday. The Holy Spirit was there and hyperactive :-). The testimonies shared at the end of the weekend spoke of renewed hope and a restored experience of the love of the Father made real in a new experience of Jesus. The sense of community was powerful, and it was a privilege to witness to who we are as Koinonia: a community sharing our experience of Jesus with others in the joy and zeal of the Holy Spirit!
Thanks to all those who made the weekend happen - the music ministry (with animation by Mickey, our resident "comedian" - as Marie said "you excelled today - even I found you funny" :-)), those who shared each theme so passionately, and our prayer ministry. A huge thanks to Claire and Fr. John for organising the weekend. Thanks to all the participants who journeyed with us. But, above all, thanks to Jesus for blessing us all so powerfully - he truly fulfilled his promise in Psalm 133: "How good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters dwell in unity... there God commands his blessing, life everlasting"
If you were present over the weekend, why don't you share what the Lord did for you. If you are interested in learning more about the Philip course or any of our other retreat and formation programme, please contact us
